Traces Of Nature - Inspired by the feeling you have when being present with nature, experiencing her imperfect beauty, and relishing in that moment of deep peace and gratitude.

When out in nature, do you ever get butterflies in your chest? This happens to me. Especially when I’m the only human in sight! It’s an indescribable feeling but the best one.

These butterflies come from a place of feeling connected and at peace with your surroundings. Creating art that is inspired by this feeling and the natural world, has allowed me to appreciate the earth’s beauty in a way I never have before.

As I was creating the Traces Of Nature collection I was overcome with a sense of familiarity. Being present in nature, and enjoying her beauty, I discover this familiarity. A painting would be complete and then I would find an element in nature that would look just like it.

Detail shot of a painting that looks just like this lichen covered rock…

This rock was discovered a couple months after this painting was complete.

Leaves that look like paintings!

I also found these after the paintings were already finished.

These beautiful attributes from nature, rooted in my thoughts, are coming out on the canvas. This collection is a wonderful reminder to slow down and enjoy the imperfect beauty of the earth.

Arranging your home to mirror this organic sense of beauty can inspire you to reflect on nature in your own way. Inviting elements of the earth into your space can enrich the connection you have to your surroundings. This relationship will allow you to experience a sense of peace and a deeper connection to yourself and those you invite into your home.

I noticed a difference in how my home felt once I invited nature inside.

Your space will feel more alive, warm, and welcoming.

If we’re still, focused, and content, we see an abundance of beauty. But if we’re impatient, rushed, or bored in this tranquil space, we’ll miss the whole point.
— Julie Pointer Adams from the book Wabi Sabi Welcome

Does this quote resonate with you? It does with me and it's something I am practicing. We can all fall into the trap (okay, speaking for myself) of feeling rushed or busy all the time. This collection has helped me focus and slow down to experience the abundance of beauty that's right outside our walls. I hope these paintings inspire you to do the same.
